Our History
3M™ Scott™ Safety boasts a rich history of innovation and dedication to firefighter safety, dating back to 1932. Originally founded as Uniloy Accessories Corporation by Earl M. Scott, the company initially focused on aeronautics parts. However, their focus soon shifted towards the critical need for respiratory protection.
In that same year, they began developing a portable on-board oxygen system for pilots, showcasing their early commitment to safety in challenging environments. The company later changed its name to Scott Aviation, reflecting this new direction.
Fast forward to 2001, Scott Aviation was acquired by Tyco International, further expanding their reach and resources. Finally, in 2017, 3M proudly acquired Scott Safety, bringing together two industry leaders in innovation and safety.
This combined heritage has fueled 3M™ Scott™ Safety’s unwavering commitment to developing the most reliable, durable, and technologically advanced fire safety equipment available.
